Charges Pending for Oilfield Theft

07/28/2014

On July 5, 2014, deputies were dispatched to Columbia Rd 227 to Quantum Resources Management. Pumpers there had chased a vehicle out of the well-site that morning loaded down with oilfield equipment. Pumpers were able to get a license number off the vehicle, as well as the vehicle description. There were items missing from the scene, including metal valves, and damage was done to a transmitter and radio antenna. Investigators took the tag number and traced it to an individual in Minden, LA. Upon further investigation, two subjects had been arrested in Homer, Louisiana, in that vehicle on July 6, 2014. Columbia County investigators were able to conclude that Ryan S. Savage from Minden, Louisiana, and Salil Y. Tharyani were the subjects in the vehicle. Mr. Savage had been released prior to this date, but Columbia County investigators were able to interview Mr. Tharyani at the Claiborne Parish Detention Center. Investigators were able to tie more evidence to the case before interviewing Mr. Tharyani. The investigation also lead to a warrant for arrest for Mr. Tharyani. A hold was placed on him, and Mr. Tharyani is awaiting extradition to Arkansas. On Thursday, July 17, 2014, Columbia County investigators went to Webster Parish, Louisiana, where Webster Parish investigators, along with Louisiana Probation and Parole, affected an arrest based on Columbia County warrants. During that arrest, Webster Parish deputies discovered Mr. Savage to be in possession of K2 and methamphetamines. Mr. Savage was transported to the Webster Parish Detention Facility, where Columbia County investigators interviewed Mr. Savage. After that interview, additional charges out of the state of Louisiana were obtained. He is being held at the Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center, with pending charges from Louisiana and Arkansas. Sheriff Loe appreciates the assistance of Claiborne Parish, Webster Parish, and Louisiana Probation and Parole in obtaining these subjects.
