Since it is tax season, people stating they are representing the IRS are calling. One scam call is a recorded requesting you to call them back at phone number (505) 479-8506 where they are requesting your personal information to check the status of your taxes. The other scam call is stating that you owe the IRS back taxes and you must pay a portion of your balance now. These are both scam calls. The IRS does not contact anyone by phone; it is always by mail. Please be cautious of anyone you give your personal information to over the phone. We want our citizens’ personal information to stay protected.
